I started my career as a literary translator from Korean to English, and was chiefly successful in introducing the works of Han Kang to an international audience. I founded Tilted Axis Press in 2015, to publish translations from Asian languages - similar to my translation work, this was motivated by seeing the lack of such works in the UK at the time. Since then, my work as both a translator and a publisher has played a part in encouraging other publishers to publish more translations from Asian languages, particularly Korean (of course, LTI Korea is the biggest influence on this!). As more publishers take on this work, Tilted Axis is able to shift towards publishing writing that is still marginalized within Asia (i.e. from south asia) and within given countries (queer, migrant, stateless, and other minority groups) - acting as a scout and model for the wider industry.

안녕하세요. 저는 한국문학 영어 번역가로 시작하여 한강 작가의 소설을 해외 독자들에게 성공적으로 소개하였습니다. 그리고 당시 영국 출판시장에서 찾아보기 힘들었던 아시아 문학 출판을 목표로 2015년 틸티드 엑시스 프레스를 설립하였습니다. 그 이후로 번역가이자 출판인으로서 다른 출판사들이 아시아 언어권(특히 한국어) 작품의 번역서를 출간하도록 장려하는데 힘써왔고 여기에는 물론 한국문학번역원도 중요한 역할을 하였습니다. 이러한 노력에 더 많은 출판사가 합류함에 따라 틸티드 엑시스는 아시아(특히 남아시아)의 소외된 글, 그리고 퀴어, 이민자, 무국적자 및 기타 소수 집단에 대한 글을 출판하는데 주력하면서 보다 넓은 산업의 스카우트 및 모델 역할을 수행하고 있습니다.
